Help the Orphans Charity Night in the Commercial Inn on Sat 2 Sept from 9pm - 12.45am. Fantastic acoustics and vocals with Barry Thomas and Johnny. Donation at the door and buffet served at 9pm. All money raised will go towards building a much needed orphanage and school over in Uganda. All welcome to come along and join in for a great cause. Partnershi­p centre Come along and have your say on the new practice partnershi­p that will be formed in November within the local medical centre. Braehead Medical Practice is changing name due to a new practice partnershi­p consisting of Dr Jones, Dr Graham and Dr Diaz and they would like patients help to choose a new name. Why not pop into the health centre with your suggestion and complete the form located at reception? The practice is also considerin­g extending their opening hours and would like to hear patients preference whether to open before morning surgery or after afternoon surgery. Please go along to the health centre and express you opinion.

Scout Group meetings take place at Brucefield Parish Church Halls East Main Street Whitburn as follows. Tuesdays for 10-14 year olds from 6.30-8.30 pm and Explorer Scouts for 14-18 yr olds from 7.30-9.30 pm. Beaver Scouts for 6-8 yrs meet on Thursdays from 5.30-6.30 pm and Club Scouts for 8-10 year olds also meet on Thursdays from 6.45-7.45 pm. A wide range of activities is available including crafts, outings, camps, badges, friendship and skills developmen­t. Anyone interested in Scouting should simply come along on the appropriat­e night or contact Gavin Johnston 01501 773 519 or email info@7thwhitbur­nscouts.org. uk Congratula­tions to local lad John McMillan in winning two gold medals at the GB National Special Olympics in Sheffield. John was a member of team Lothian and won his first gold in the individual Short Mat Bowls event and his second in the doubles event with partner Colin Robertson from Blackburn. Well done to both lads and all the other competitor­s. Community Council will meet on Wed 6 Sept at 7pm in the Partnershi­p Centre. Members of the public are welcome to come along. Fauldhouse United FC Sportsmans Dinner takes place in Greenburn Golf Club on Sat 16 Sept and tickets priced £25 can be purchased from any committee member. Dinner, raffle, auction and late bar. Entertainm­ent by Comedian Jimmy Stirling and well known footballer Jimmy Nicholl. Purchase your ticket now to avoid disappoint­ment. Carers of West Lothian working in partnershi­p with the CDT’s Timebank project will be giving a talk on their Carers service across West Lothian on Thursday 21 Sept. Anyone interested in finding out about this service is welcome to pop along to the Hub on Main Street at 1 pm on the 21 Sept.

Monday Club OAPs meet every Monday in the Miners Welfare from 1-3 pm. A range of activities is available including guest speakers, bingo, singing, dancing trips and outings. New members always welcome.
