Dunne group’s head office sold off to new contractor
Undisclosed sum agreed
The Bathgate head office of closure- hit Dunne Group has been sold off for an undisclosed sum.
Surrey- based Keltbray Group has bought the company’s former yard and head office as well as plant used for the construction of reinforced concrete structures.
Dunne Group and five subsidiary companies ceased trading in July with the loss of 524 jobs.
The group, founded in Bathgate in 2001, operated from sites in Glasgow, Leeds, Dublin and London, providing a range of civil engineering, building, construction, infrastructure, contracting and plant hire services.
Dunne Group was reported to have racked up “substantial trading losses on some contracts, leading to severe cash flow pressures”.
Appointed administrators FRP Advisory have already sold off most of Dunne Group’s contracts to other contractors.
Keltbray Group confirmed in a statement it has acquired some of the Dunne Group assets, including the former yard and head office in Bathgate as well as plant used for the construction of reinforced concrete structures.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Keltbray sees this as an opportunity to broaden its capability and services portfolio, widen its geographical reach and to respond to market demands.”
Tom MacLennan, joint administrator to Dunne Group and partner at FRP Advisory, added: “We are delighted to have agreed a deal with Keltbray Group, and wish the company every success with their future plans.
“We have been delighted with the response of the contracting industry to the administration of the Dunne Group, and estimate that since our appointment over 400 former staff have now found new employment.”
