can get promotion.” Carrick was one of three signings who put pen to paper in time for the season opening fixture against St Mirren, with Thomas Orr and Liam Kelly both arriving on loan until January from Greenock Mor ton and Rangers respectively.

Goalkeeper Kelly, who played 16 times on loan at East Fife last season, is hoping he can use his stint at the Tony Macaroni Arena to catch the eye of his coaches at Rangers and with Scotland’s under-21 side.

He said: “I’m delighted to be here and hopefully I play my part in Livingston pushing up the table.

“It’s a definite step up from my spell at East Fife last season. They’re a great club, but the facilities here are bigger and better.

“It’s a higher league than I played in last season, although I did win the league with East Fife, but it’s another challenge for me.

“I’ll be training two days a week at Rangers and two at Livingston.

“Hopefully if everything goes well, my coaches at Rangers will see that I’m performing well and things can kick on from there and I can push myself into the international set- up at under-21 level.”

Striker Orr, who played under Hopkin when he was coach of Morton’s Development League side, commented: “This is a great chance for me to play regular first team football, but I know I have to work hard to get into the team.

“I’ve worked with the boss before at Morton and that’s a huge boost for me.

“I’ll just need to work hard for my chances and be sure to make the most of them when they come.”

Livingston new boy Dale Carrick hopes scoring with his first touch for the club is a sign of things to come.

The speedster found the net just seconds after coming off the bench in the club’s 3-2 League Cup defeat against St Mirren on Saturday and hopes he can kick-start his career in West Lothian.

The former Scotland Under- 21 player has struggled with injury and has dropped into League One after spells in the top flight with Hearts and Kilmarnock.

He commented: “It was a great way to start at the club. First touch, first goal. Hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.

“I just want to get going again and play football — and I see this as a perfect chance for me to do that.

“Hopefully this can be the start of me climbing the ladder back up to where I thought my career would be at this point. The injuries have really held me back, but I hope that I’m over that now and can stay fully fit.”

He added: “The gaffer sold the club to me right away and they are looking to play a way that I think helps my game and, hopefully, I can be a big part of this team.

“He was very influential in me coming here.

“All I want to do is get back to playing football.”

And he hopes him achieving his personal goals will help guide the team to promotion.

He said: “My own aims are simply to stay fit and play as much football and score as many goals as I can. Hopefully doing that will help the team get up to the top of the table.

“I’ve only been around for a couple of weeks, but I’ve seen more than enough from everybody to think that we
