Mike Duncan James Young Every year James Young High School pupils and staff work hard to raise money for a range of worthy charities. In the past 12 months an impressive total of £4,720 has been raised. Some of the charities benefiting for the school’s fundraisin­g include; Jeans for Genes, Children In Need,Poppy Appeal, McMillan Cancer Support, Oxfam, Sports Relief, Alzheimers Scotland, and River Kids.

Dedridge Spirituali­st Church based at Crofthead Farm next meet on Wednesday July 27 at 7.30pm. Guest speaker on the night is Reg Tucker from Dundee and the meeting is open to all interested. Dedridge Good Neighbour Network 50+ Lunch and Social Club meet on Wednesday July 27 at 12.30pm. Following a home cooked meal a Prize Bingo will be held. Livingston South Community Church is holding its Service of Worship at Murieston Village Hall this Sunday starting at 10am. The service will be led by the Reverend Ian Coltart and new attenders will be made most welcome. Centre Throughout the school summer holidays the Farmhouse Cafe at Crofthead Farm Centre will have reduced opening times. The Cafe is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s from 9-1.30pm. The Cafe offers a wide range of snacks and meals. Champion’s Challenge Holiday

Club is being hosted by the Livingston United Parish Church at the Lanthorn Community Complex from Monday August 8 until Friday 12. Dedridge Community Council recently held its AGM at the Lanthorn Community Complex. The Council is proactive in ensuring that the best interests of the local community are considered by liaising with various organisati­ons including West Lothian Council Department­s, local Councillor­s, Police and Environmen­tal Agencies. Nomination­s were put forward for the Council’s office bearers and resulted in the following being elected; Lawrence Fagan, chairperso­n, Kathleen Ross-Hale, vice-chair, Michael Duncan, vice chair and treasurer, David Cleghorn, secretary and Robin, planning.

Congratula­tions go to James Young High School pupils who were recently recognised for their Sporting achievemen­ts at the Livingston Rugby Club Awards. Daniel Robinson, S5, was awarded the prestigiou­s Jock Harkness trophy, Jamie Lumsden, S5, was awarded the Steel Shield for Spirit of Rugby and Jamie was also a member of Scotland’s Under 16 squad earlier this year and will start training with the Under 18’s team later this summer. Emma Lumsden, S3, was awarded the trophy for the most improved player in the Under 16’s girls section. Cameron Hunter S3 was also an award winner.
