LIVI YOUNGSTERS SEAL WIN AGAINST KIRKCALDY

-

Livingston Rugby Football Club’s youth section had a busy Sunday when they took part in competitive fixtures after doing their bit for charity.

Many of the players took part in the Sport Relief Mile that got under way at the club’s Almond Park ground before their fixtures.

The S2 and 3 team faced Kirkcaldy, with the under-16 side taking on the travelling Biggar team while the P6 and P7 players took part in a friendly match against each other.

It was one win and one defeat for the club, by almost identical scores.

While the under-16s lost out 36-14 to Biggar, the S2 and 3 team sealed an impressive 34-16 win against Kirkcaldy.

Lee Stirling, who was named man of the match, scored two tries for Livi.

Kayne MacAulay also scored twice, along with kicking over three conversions.

Gregor Murray grabbed Livi’s other try, with Alasdair Dalling (five) and Cammy Phil hitting conversions.

While they sealed a decent victory, the game was played at a slow pace and there was a sense that the hosts could have stepped up the gears and won by a more convincing margin.

Lukas Palin (twice) and Rory Anderson were the players to score tries in the under-16s dissappointing defeat. Fraser Paterson and Dan Robinson added conversions in a tough match.
