JD CYMRU NORTH

-

PRESTATYN Town got back to winning ways in JD Cymru North with a 4-1 home victory over Corwen.

The league leaders had stuttered in recent weeks by taking just one point from their past two games.

But they grabbed their first win in three with Rob Hughes helping himself to all four of their goals.

Hughes’ first half penalty put Prestatyn ahead and he then netted three more after the break to complete a thumping victory. Dale Davies replied for Corwen.

It moves them five points clear of Flint Town United, who slipped to a 2-1 home defeat by Colwyn Bay.

Seven straight league victories since losing 3-2 at home against Prestatyn on October 5 had seen Flint move to within striking distance of the leaders.

But they were unable to make it eight in a row, despite taking a fourth minute lead through Callum Bratley.

Julian Williams levelled things up for the visitors eight minutes after the re-start before Will Bell grabbed the winner on 66 for a Seagulls side buoyed by their win over JD Cymru Premier side Airbus in the Welsh Cup last weekend.

Ironically, Flint and Colwyn Bay have been drawn against one another in round four.

Elsewhere two second half goals from Llyr Morris guided Ruthin Town to a 3-1 home win over Penrhyncoch.

Steffan Davies had given Penrhyncoch an eighth minute lead, only for Kevin Evans to level before the break.

Llangefni Town played out a goalless with Rhyl while the scheduled games at Gresford and Llanrhaeadr were postponed due to the weather.
