Barely tested in the first half but did the basics really well. More of the same after the restart and was alert to deny Famara Diedhiou from a header. Such an assured display. 8

KYLE NAUGHTON

Making his first league start of the season, the right-back impressed in defence and made a vital intervention to rob Famara Diedhiou of possession just before the break as the striker threatened. Very solid on his return. 8

MIKE VAN DER HOORN

Generally looked fine but was a little casual at times. Headed over in the second half but impressed in his own box. 7

JOE RODON

Fine tackle to stop Josh Brownhill in his tracks early on and was typically slick in possession. Unlucky not to guide a header on target in the second half. 8

JAKE BIDWELL

Threw his body on the line to block Jack Hunt’s shot and bombed up and down the left flank. Impressive display but was shown a straight red card at the death. 7

MATT GRIMES (CAPT)

Booked for a poor foul on Josh Brownhill and went close with a free-kick just before the break. 7

ANDRE AYEW

Typically busy on the right of the trio behind Borja Baston and grew in confidence after the restart. Had two big chances, one with a header and the other a one on one, but couldn’t bulge the net. 7

GEORGE BYERS

Worked tremendously hard in the middle on his return to the starting XI. Subbed late on. 7

BERSANT CELINA

Back on the left hand side, Celina had the beating of Hunt and Taylor Moore at times, but could find that killer end product. Cut a frustrated figure late on aswell as his efforts went unrewarded. 6

BORJA BASTON

Worked hard but to no avail in truth. 6
