991 Carrera T

A modern-day Clubsport, this nearly new 991 has already taken its price hit

-

The T snuck into the 991 range as a bit of a runout special, its impact insignificant, at least on the consciousness of most buyers. Many pointed somewhat cynically at the marginal weight losses Porsche championed, but this narrow-bodied, specification-tweaked base model can be very special indeed. Total 911 isn’t alone in thinking so: along with the 997 GTS, the Carrera T is seen as a hot proposition among the more modern cars here, particularly as a car to own and, crucially, drive.

Meyer says as much: “I would buy one of these for me. A manual with buckets, and I’d drive it every day.” He admits it was seen as a commercial failure by some, because it depreciated after rolling out of the showrooms, but adds: “I love them. It’s a cool car, a thinking man’s Porsche, and they’re mega to drive.”

He’s not alone in that either, Tyler from Paragon saying: “The first time I drove one I wasn’t expecting much from it, but my god, I loved it, they are very, very good.” Sports Purpose’s Turner likes them, too, saying: “I think it’s the car that the 911 Carrera should have been, it’s spot on. It’s such a nice car, if you had to have a modern 911 to drive around in daily then this is it. They’re a little bit under the radar, and have been rather forgotten, they’re a sleeper.” Total 911 has likened the changes the T brought to the 991 as similar to those on the 3.2 Clubsport, another car that wasn’t seen as a commercial success and was a ‘bitsa’ special at the end of a production run.
