Yule learn how not to break the bank

SUPERSHOPPERS DO CHRISTMAS (CHANNEL 4)

IT’S the most wonderful time of the year . . . but also the most expensive.

There’s no doubt that Christmas sees us splash the cash like it’s going out of fashion.

As if gifts weren’t enough, we find ourselves tallying up the cost of the turkey and all the trimmings, dishing out on dazzling decorations and parting with the pounds on party nights.

But, as Andi Osho and Anna Richardson showed us, if you’re a savvy super-shopper, you’ll be able to add plenty of sparkle without the super spend.

They revealed the tricks of the retail trade, which every year takes the opportunity to cash in on Christmas.

For example, did you know that Christmas cards sent by first and second class post tend to arrive on the same day? And more than £300 million remains unspent on gift cards every year?

It all goes to show that, when it comes to Christmas, money really doesn’t matter.

So do yourself a favour this year – don’t get fooled by the financials of the festivities.

After all, it’s just one day, and, as wonderful as it is, it doesn’t have to break the bank.

I DO AT 92 (CHANNEL4)

You’re never too old to fall in love – and this delightful programme was proof of that.

The documentary followed three couples as they tied the knot.

But in a bizarre twist, the lovebirds were all 70-plus.

From finding love on the internet to whizzing down the aisle on their mobility scooters, these OAPs saw no reason to waste time before making their relationships official.

They’re grabbing life – and love – while they still can.

And why not? If you have someone to grow old with, what’s the point in waiting?
