I’ve danced with Steps but I haven’t danced with a partner. Bring it on

-

Strictly bosses have faced criticism this year because of the number of celebrities who have previous dance experience.

Fans fear their dance skills will give them an unfair advantage when things get serious.

They include pop stars Faye Tozer of Steps, known for their carefully choreographed stage routines. And she admits that may give her one advantage at least.

“I’ve definitely had experience when it comes to learning routines compared to other people,” said Faye,

42. “But in some ways it could go against me as people might vote against me because of that.

“It’ll be exciting to work with a partner, which I’ve never done before, and also to learn new styles of dance.”

Ashley Roberts, a former member of Pussycat Dolls, also knows her way round a dance routine.

“I’ve got rhythm, so that helps,” admitted Ashley, 36. “Hopefully I won’t have any bad habits from my past that would hinder me.

“I’m nervous about learning all the ballroom stuff as it seems so far out of my element.”

Ashley suffered personal tragedy in April when her dad took his own life following physical and mental health problems. At the time she spoke about her shock, confusion and deep pain, so might Strictly prove a welcome distraction?

“I think some of the public will be aware of what I’ve been through,” said Ashley.

“I’m very grateful to be here and put my focus into this show and enjoy myself.”
