Situated just on the outskirts of Hamilton centre, it’s just a short walk from all major routes into the town. On a main road, it’s easily accessible by car and has parking.
First impressions
Stepping into this beautiful big building full of twinkling lights for the festivities, we were welcomed with open arms by a smiling waiter and shown to a table. The decor is plain and simple.
Service
Prompt. Our drinks order was taken before we even had our coats off! The waiter brought a la carte menus but pointed us to the special set menu, which he said was good value for money. All food arrived piping hot and nothing seemed to be a problem.
Menu
The menu is classic Indian cuisine, from poppadoms and pakora to korma and chasni, every starter and curry you can imagine is on there in a choice of different meats and seafoods. There’s also a list of vegetarian options and European dishes if something spicy doesn’t appeal.
Taste
We started off with a mixed platter, filled with pakora, chicken chaat and potato fritters. Everything was delicious, as were the crispy poppadoms and spiced onions. For mains, we opted for chicken chasni, korma and chicken tikka garlic chilli masala with pilau rice and nan bread on the side. The curries were bursting with flavour and just the right size of portion.
Ambience
We arrived pre theatre and were almost the only table in the restaurant. By the time we left, every table was full and there was a queue building for takeaway. The popularity of this place speaks for itself!
Price
There was a little confusion over the bill but this was quickly resolved. Not bad at under £70 for three.
