Sub Jack Payne’s first goal for Blackburn secured a 2-1 victory over Oxford United, but it wasn’t enough to secure them the title as Wigan won 1-0 at Doncaster, courtesy of Will Grigg’s 75th-minute winner

Darragh Lenihan’s first goal for Rovers put them ahead and after Charlie Mulgrew missed a penalty, James Henry equalised for Oxford.

Payne then struck the winner, but Grigg’s goal for Wigan ensured Paul Cook’s side finished on top of the pile.

Oldham have been relegated after a 2-2 draw at Northampto­n, who were also sunk.

The Latics needed three points to guarantee survival, but they could only draw, which sent them down courtesy of Rochdale’s 1-0 victory over Charlton, with sub Joe Thompson grabbing the all-important goal for Dale who stay up.

Oldham took a crucial lead via George Edmunson, but Matt Grimes’ penalty levelled things up.

Ash Taylor scrambled in to put the hosts back in front, but Thomas Haymer headed in Jack Byrne’s free-kick, but the draw was not enough to save Oldham.

John Sheridan’s reign at Fleetwood ended on a high with a well-deserved and easy 2-0 win over Walsall, with Ash Hunter and Paddy Madden securing the win.

Bury came from behind to end their three-year stay in League One with a 2-2 draw against AFC Wimbledon.

Dean Parrett and Kwesi Appiah had the Wombles two goals ahead inside 34 minutes, but Neil Danns brought Bury back into the game, before George Miller, headed home Jay O’shea’s cross to secure a point.

Blackpool’s five-game unbeaten run came to an end as they lost 1-0 at Rotherham, with Will Vaulks on target.
