Man dies as cars collide in horror crash
A MAN died in a two-car crash in the Highlands yesterday.
Two people – a male and a female – were cut free from the wreckage and taken to hospital in Inverness suffering from multiple but non-life threatening injuries.
The accident happened at 8.15am on the B9039 at Connage near Ardersier.
The Inverness Airport to Ardersier road was closed and diversions were put in place.
Emergency services raced to the scene on the seaside road after the alarm was raised. The Fire and Rescue Service sent two fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit containing cutting equipment.
After the casualties were cut free they were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by ambulance.
The man killed in the crash was yesterday named locally as 25-yearold David Duncanson.
He is believed to have left work at the Co-op depot at Dalcross beside the airport to go to his parents’ house in Ardersier.
David, a single man, had moved to Inverness friends say.
One local said: ‘The whole village is shocked by what has happened.’
A Police Scotland spokesman said: ‘Sadly a man in his 20s has died following a road traffic collision on the B9039 at Ardersier.’
