ON TWITTER
People of the Covid-19 locked-down city went online to shatre their pride their area – while some on Twitter were feeling less kind.
@aswilliams5 said: ‘This weekend will be tough for people in Leicester and Leicestershire but there is such a strong sense of community and great partnership I know we will beat #COVID19 together.”
@Equinoxdprime said: “Dispute all the division around the world that has been created by America and its people #Weareleicester proves that the human spirit is much stronger than their hate.”
@Shinesmiler said: “Good Luck and Stay Safe from Scotland.”
@everardstigress said: “It’s been a tough week for my home city but #Weareleicester.”
@ceidwadol warned: “This time round in lockdown don’t have another mass protest of people.”
@IANNE2 said: “Best of luck with round 2.”
@Claudiawenbbe added: “Our diversity is our strength. The people of Leicester have already made huge sacrifices. We will do it again to protect us all.”
@retrovinyl90 asked: “Erm... how does this help? It’d be nice to see some in Leicester actually questioning the validity of this extended lockdown?”
#HAMILTON
Lin-manuel Miranda’s awardwinning musical Hamilton arrived on Disney+ around the world. Covid-19 hobbled plans for a cinema release.
@Sofiehagen said: “Happy Hamilton Day! If you really want the full Live On Broadway experience, when Lin-manuel Miranda first walks on stage as Hamilton, pause the video and stand up and clap for ten minutes. Then sit down and press play again.”
@nancykiu said: “So much of theatre is inaccessible to most people for a variety of reasons. As a kid I loved listening to cast albums, but it’s not the same as seeing the show. I’m genuinely excited for people who get to experience the magic of seeing #Hamilton for the first time.”
@Studiomom said: “Incredible!!! Standing ovation in our living room... need to stop crying now !”
@dblak said: “That was a powerful, amazingly choreographed/penned, inspirational, entertaining, colorful and sad threehour long interdimensional fireworks display!”
