What’s cooking? Glasgow Pantry opens its doors to slice of online food fun
Community platform offers online tutorials and support during the lockdown, finds Rosalind Erskine
Anew community platform, The Glasgow Pantry, has launched to support the city’s favourite food and drink businesses in self-isolation.
Providing fun, uplifting content, the Glasgow Pantry will host live cook-a-longs with top chefs, recipes, virtual tasting sessions and cupboard challenges with a host of Glasgow’s well-known names. The new platform launched with a video from Scotland’s current curry champion, Ajay Kumar, in his kitchen cooking a Glasgow favourite – vegetable pakora.
The Glasgow Pantry also unveiled its Easter programme, which included a Glasgow Cocktail Week cocktail hour and a live Easter Sunday Brunch Cook-a-long with Red Onion’s John Quigley.
A host of other characters are already lined up to share recipes – such as former Masterchef finalist Julie Lin Mcleod and El
Perro Negro’s Nick Watkins, creating their favourite dishes with supermarket-friendly ingredients. Created by creative marketing agency Atomic10, the new online platform aims to get the city cooking and supporting their favourite businesses when they need it most.
Nicola Moir, co-founder of Atomic10 said: “Easter might be alittle different this year, but our vision is to help Glasgow stay connected with their favourite businesses from their kitchen.
“Self-isolation can be lonely, and we hope we can support each other through lockdown with our new Glasgow Pantry online community and social channels with some much-needed light relief.”
Cooking demos will take place on The Glasgow Pantry Facebook live – so make sure to follow Glasgow Pantry on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
If you want to cook along during the video, make sure and stock up on the shopping list of ingredients beforehand.
