Ronnie Edwards has topped a PT poll to find the best Posh centre-back of all time.

The poll was conducted on X with Posh fans asked to nominate their top three in order.

A dozen players were nominated.

RESULTS 1 Ronnie Edwards

The classy ball-playing defender who left for Premier League Southampto­n last week.

2 Dave Robinson

The powerhouse centrehalf from the back-to-back promotion team under Chris Turner in the early 1990s. Signed for a club record £100k from Halifax.

3 Chris Turner

A brilliant Posh defender before he became a brilliant Posh manager.

4 Ryan Bennett

A cultured centre-back who starred as Posh won promotion to the Championsh­ip in 2011. Sold to Norwich City for £3 million

5 Ian Ross

Outstandin­g former Aston Villa defender who teamed up with Turner as Posh conceded a club record low of 33 goals in the 1977-78 season.

6 Gaby Zakuani

Bennett’s regular central defensive partner. Known

as ‘The Wall’ for obvious reasons.

7 Gary Breen

Stylish, athletic performer signed by John Still in 1994 who went to play in the top flight and in internatio­nal football for Ireland.

8 Andy Edwards

The skipper of the Posh promotion winning side under Barry Fry in 1999-2000.

9 John Wile

Rock-solid centre-half who went on to have a long career with West Bromwich Albion at the top level. Came back to play for and manage Posh.

10 Jack Carmichael

Not big, but a tenacious tackler and man-marker.

11 Josh Knight

A star alongside Ronnie Edwards last season and now in Germany with Hannover 96.

12 Guy Branston

A whole-hearted, hard-asnails old school centre-back who took no prisoners.
