‘The standard would surprise you’

-

Peterborough Sports are hoping to attract a bumper gate of more than 400 to their opening Southern League Central Premier Division game against Tamworth at the Bee Arena on Saturday (3pm kick off).

Unlike at Posh, Sports are allowed to have fans at their matches andalimit of 565 has been set for Saturday’s match which comfortably exceeds the club’s regular attendance.

Sports manager Jimmy Dean said: “Anyone wanting a football fix should come and see us. Thestandard is decent with several former Football LeagueandPoshplayerscompeting.

“If 400 Posh fans came to watch us as they can’t get in at London Road I’m confident half of them would come back. They’d be pleasantly surprised at how competitive and enjoyable our football is and they would see familiar, friendly faces and have a good time.”

The existing attendance record at the Bee Arena is 436 set last season against Kettering in the FA Trophy.

Biddle said: “We can operate at 30% of grading capacity which is 1950 so the current limit is 565whichiswellabove our record anyway.

“We estimate around 400 will come and watch.”

Sports currently have a temporary bar facility in operation which will take cash payments only so fans are being encouragedtoarriveearly. Gates open at 1pm.
