Northants’ Adams Trophy team made it 40 points from a maximum 44 following their comprehensive 215-122 defeat of North Cambs at Tilney St Lawrence. Having been on the receiving end of a heavy defeat against Norfolk, young Jack Corney teamed up this time with Malcolm Squires and Roger Strong and they took the ‘spoons’ with a 46-17 victory, just ahead of Peter Jessop’s 41-17 success. The outcome of Northants’ opening homewomen’sintercounty championshipmatches proved as disappointing as the wet weather which only added to the gloom for the home players.
Both teams failed to claim a point against Suffolk at Peterborough & District and Parkway, with the Silver Ju- bilee Vase team, playing their first match of the season, going down by 90 shots over the five rinks.
