Stones roll beyond McGhee’s nine men

- By Anthony Scott

MARK MCGHEE’S first game in interim charge of Eastbourne Borough was one to forget as he watched his side comprehensively beaten at home by Wealdstone and finish with nine men.

David Pratt and Tarryn Allarakhia’s goals saw the Stones go into half-time two goals to the good, by which time Borough keeper Sam Howes had seen red.

Danny Green added a third with nine minutes to go, after Lloyd Dawes had limped off injured.

The deadlock was broken with 34 minutes on the clock as Ramarni Medford-Smith lifted the ball in towards Pratt, who planted his header in from six yards.

The game’s turning point came when Howes was sent off for a foul on Allarakhia outside the area.

Borough’s under-18 keeper James Earl came on for his debut, but his first task was to pick the ball out of the net just before halftime as Allarakhia was allowed too much room and, after beating a defender, he slotted home.

Godfrey Poku hit the bar early in the second half as Wealdstone looked to add to their lead.

McGhee was dealt a further blow on 70 minutes when Sports sub Dawes was forced off due to injury.

A third goal came late on, as Green whipped in a free-kick from the right which was misjudged by Earl and went in off the far post. STAR MAN: Danny Green (Wealdstone) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
