BROMLEY 1 SOLIHULL Porter 87 MOORS 0

- By Machel Hewitt

A GEORGE Porter goal three minutes from time consigned struggling Solihull Moors to a fifth consecutive defeat, although the visitors were left to wonder how they lost in a game that neither side deserved to win.

Substitute Porter coolly latched onto Iffy Allen’s through ball to snatch the Ravens the points and leave Moors boss Liam McDonald frustrated.

“A point would have been a fair result but we lack concentration at certain points of games and it’s the story of our season so far,” he said.

The first half was a dreary affair with Solihull’s Wes McDonald coming closest to breaking the deadlock with a low shot which David Gregory did well to parry away.

The second witnessed an upsurge in quality from both sides, albeit without producing any clearcut opportunities. Three minutes after the restart Luke Wanadio’s deep cross was volleyed wide by a late arriving Adam Mekki. Minutes later Mekki and Josh Rees combined well to release Brett Williams but the forward dragged his shot wide.

McDonald went close for Solihull with two opportunities in quick succession – first his shot from the byline was deflected unto the post by Gregory before he forced

the Bromley custodian into another stop at his near post.

Solihull then almost gifted Bromley a goal when Jordan Liburd sliced Wanadio’s cross goalward, only for Vaughan to claw the ball off the line.

But Bromley weren’t to be denied with Allen exquisitely threading the ball through for fellow sub Porter to plant beyond Vaughan.

Victorious boss Neil Smith said: “We knew Solihull would be hard to break down but we were patient and knew it would come. I’m delighted for the boys.”
