HATTERS PREPARE FOR HOT WINTER

- By Jon Couch

STOCKPORT County boss Jim Gannon has the perfect solution to stopping dangerous opponents – sign them up!

Gannon has raided National League North rivals FC United for midfielder Harry Winter this week on the strength of his performances against the promotion-chasing Hatters.

And he believes the 27-year-old can play a pivotal role in leading the Edgeley Park club into the play-off places – and even beyond at a higher level should they succeed.

Winter has scored four goals in 33 appearances for the Red Rebels this season having previously turned out for Trafford, Northwich Victoria, FC Halifax, Hyde, AFC Fylde and Chorley.

Gannon said: “I feel the signing of Harry at this stage of the campaign is a great addition to the squad, as well as an important step in the team building process for next season.

“I’ve known of Harry for a number of years and he’s a very capable player at this level with great experience of playing and success with a number of clubs at this level and the next level up.

“More recently his performances for FC United against us this season impressed me. I like players with a decent physical presence, a match mentality which shows determination and a willingness to affect the game and have a positive influence on players on the pitch.”
