EDWIN DOES IT
Stratford produce the goods in style
IN THE only Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division game of the day Stratford’s ultimately comfortable victory lifted them into the top half.
The match got off to a dramatic start as Frome almost took the lead inside the opening 30 seconds.
Stratford keeper Niall Cooper miscued his clearance and George Miller pounced on with his shot looking destined for the top corner until Cooper redeemed himself.
As the half progressed Cooper saved again from Miller and then with his legs from Jon Davies before Stratford began to settle down and went ahead on 32 minutes.
Simeon Tulloch crossed from the right and Richard Gregory reached it before Nathan Summers to head firmly home.
Soon after Darren Chitty did well to beat away a fierce effort from Edwin Ahenkorah followed by Cooper holding a rasping drive from Darren Jeffries at the foot of his right hand post.
Ahenkorah went close early in the second half before he doubled Stratford’s lead in the 62nd minute.
Tulloch’s cross was headed behind by Marcus Mapstone and when Will Grocott’s subsequent corner caused mayhem in the Froome six yard box Ahenkorah reacted the quickest.
Frome’s afternoon got worse with 20 minutes to go when Mitchell Page was dismissed after for two bookings, and substitute Edji Mbunga wrapped up the points for Stratford on 87 minutes with a close range finish.
