JACK MASTERS DECISIVE GOAL

- By Dave Osborne

WHITEHAWK twice came from behind to go through to the next qualifying round at the expense of East Thurrock United.

James Walker opened the scoring in the 14th minute, slotting home from close range after a great Tom Wraight cross.

Whitehawk keeper Lucas Covolan may feel he could have prevented the opportunity, but he decided to stay home rather than come to collect the long ball sent through to Wraight.

Whitehawk equalised in the 24th minute thanks to good aerial play by Danny Mills. As the ball was played to Mills, the Rocks’ defence lost their footing, allowing Mills to head to Sergio Torres. Torres was through but opted to set the ball across for Reece Connolly to finish.

Three minutes after halftime, the Rocks restored their advantage as substitute Harry Honesty was put through by Kane Ferdinand with a glancing header. Honesty’s controlled finish was well taken.

Whitehawk netted again in the 67th minute as Connolly was gifted his second from a corner, smashing the ball into an empty net after Lucas Lidakevicius failed to collect cleanly.

The Hawks then took the lead two minutes later thanks to a fantastic strike by Jack Masterton, curling the ball into the top-right corner from 20 yards. STAR MAN: Harry Honesty (East Thurrock) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
