GROUNDS FOR MOAN

-

POOLE TOWN manager Tom Killick has labelled the club’s ground as “a bit of an embarrassment”. The Dolphins boss has urged the local council to get behind them in their quest to bring Football League status to the area. He told the Daily Echo: “We all desperately want the club to progress and the only way that can happen is for us to get a new ground. There is no point beating around the bush. Our ground is a bit of an embarrassment to the town, bearing in mind the level of football we’re at. “The council has to face up to its responsibilities. I am hoping (new owner) Eddie Mitchell can push it forward.” Killick is boosted by the news that goalkeeper Nick Hutchings has signed a new one-year deal. "That’s a real plus for the club," said the Poole manager. CLASSY winger Jonny McNamara has been tipped to take the National League South by storm – by the manager who has just sold him.

Hemel Hempstead have paid an undisclosed fee to Hitchin Town for the in-demand wide man.

His old boss says it breaks his heart to see him leave Top Field but he has total faith that McNamara can thrive under Hemel boss Dean Brennan.

Hitchin manager Mark Burke said: “Jonny is such an exciting young prospect. He has served our club with great distinction.

“I am sure he will more than rise to the challenge of playing at a higher level.”

On his move, McNamara said:“I’m very excited, but at the same time sad, to be leaving a club where I have had two fantastic years and made many friends.”

Brennan has also swooped to sign goalkeeper Jon Henley for the Stags after his release from Ipswich Town in what has been a busy summer for the manager, with a large number of new arrivals. WESTON-SUPERMARE’S squad for the new season is nearly complete as they look to challenge for the play-offs. Manager Ryan Northmore is excited about next term and has confirmed that midfielder Jacob Cane is staying. The Seagulls boss said: “The deal took a little longer than we expected as another club was courting his services. “He has put ambition above finances and it’s great news. The squad is 85 per cent done.”
