TWO goals and a sending off in the first half helped Ipswich retain top spot. The goals game from Kayden Jackson (right) and James Norwood with Shrewsbury’s Shaun Whalley sent off. Flynn Downes added a third after the break. Ipswich manager Paul Lambert said: ‘The performanc­e and the way we played was really good. I thought that we were excellent in the first half and so dominant, even when they had 11 men.’

FRUSTRATED Southend fans, whose side have yet to gain a point this season, called for Kevin Bond’s head during the home defeat to Rochdale. Ian Henderson, Aaron Morley and Callum Camps got the goals.

WYCOMBE’S wait for a first win at Wimbledon since 2008 goes on and manager Gareth Ainsworth said: ‘I’ve broken a lot of records during my time here but that one still stands.’

TRANMERE nicked a late equaliser to claim a point at Rotherham. Stefan Payne bundled the ball home deep into injury time to earn a draw following Ben Wiles’s opener, fired high into the net 17 minutes from time.

ACCRINGTON 2 MK DONS 1

ACCRINGTON celebrated their first win of the season as they came from behind to beat MK Dons. Kieran Agard put the vistors ahead but Colby Bishop and Mark Hughes responded.

OXFORD 3 COVENTRY 3

ELLIOT MOORE forced Frankaty Dabo’s second own goal of the game in stoppage time to earn Oxford a point. Jamie Mackie also scored. Zain Westbrooke, Matty Godden and Callum O’Hare were on target for Coventry.

BLACKPOOL 1 PORTSMOUTH 1

BLACKPOOL came from behind to maintain their unbeaten league start. Marcus Harness handed Portsmouth the lead but Armand Gnanduille­t’s header ensured the spoils were shared.

LINCOLN 2 FLEETWOOD 0

TYLER WALKER’S two goals in a minute saw Lincoln return to winning ways and manager Danny Cowley said: ‘We knew we had to play in a certain way because Fleetwood are a good team with top players.’

BURTON 2 BRISTOL R 0

LUCAS AKINS’ first goal of the season helped secured a late victory for Burton. Ryan Edwards finished a superb counter-attack in stoppage time to seal the win.

PETERBORO 3 SUNDERLAND 0

THREE goals and two red cards left Sunderland stunned. Sunderland fan Marcus Maddison (right) scored a stunning 30-yard free-kick and a sweeping finish either side of Josh Knight’s first goal for the club before the visitors had Luke O’Nien and Charlie Wyke sent off. Sunderland manager Jack Ross said: ‘There are days where you have to take your medicine.’
