I feel sick, says Coleman as he hits out at ‘arrogant’ ref

- By Dominic King

ACCRINGTON manager John Coleman launched a remarkable attack on referee Jon Moss after his side lost to a Martyn Waghorn goal.

Moss sent two players off: Accrington midfielder Dan Barlaser for two bookable offences and Derby defender Jayden Bogle for a professional foul on Paul Smyth.

Coleman was so incensed by Barlaser’s 59th-minute dismissal that he was still seething when he sought out the Premier League referee 30 minutes after the final whistle. He admitted to raising his voice to Moss, who he claims would not listen to his concerns. The FA will investigate if Moss includes it in his report.

‘I feel physically sick,’ said Coleman. ‘I wanted to vomit when I saw them celebrating in front of their fans, although you have got every right to do that. It just made me feel sick as they didn’t deserve it. Even the most biased Derby fan knows they shouldn’t be in the next round.

‘We have been on the end of couple of horrendous decisions. You wait half an hour before you see the referee and he had scarpered into the lounge. I went to see him in the lounge and he threw me out. His arrogance defies belief but the more you criticise him, the more you get into trouble. You can’t win. He doesn’t care he has ruined my weekend or 2,000 fans’ weekend — just move on and get a Premier League game next weekend. Everyone I have spoken to thinks [Barlaser’s second tackle] was never a yellow card. It ruins the game. You feel persecuted. I’m rapidly falling out of love with football.’
