10 IDEAS FOR HALF-TERM
With half term just around the corner, here’s a sneak peek at some of the things to do in Yorkshire and the North East:
1. Become a feathered friend on the new family trail at Beningbrough.
Head off on a nature adventure around the garden, sniffing out the clues and challenges as you go.
2. Flutter and fly your way around Gibside, right, on a scavenger hunt to find butterflies and moths. Learn about some of our most important pollinators.
3. Learn all about Incredible Insects at Wallington, with talks and activities taking place all week long. Join in with moth mornings and butterfly surveys, or head indoors to find out more about the bugs that you might find in the house.
4. Have a go at pond dipping at
Ormesby Hall or join in with garden themed activities, including plant pot painting and seed planting. There’ll also be play equipment, games and sports to play in front of the hall.
5. Learn about bumble bees at East Riddlesden Hall, follow the nature inspired trail around the gardens and spot the bees hiding in the hall.
6. Become a detective at Wentworth Castle Gardens,

and explore a world of colour with a new activity lanyard and bookable, artist-led workshops.
7. Follow the wildflower trail at
Nunnington Hall and find out about the incredible work that our garden pollinators do. You can also get busy in the house with family crafts.
8. Join rangers at Souter Lighthouse for a seashore safari around the rocky shore to spot sea creatures galore. Find an outlet for spring energy with free sports and games in the Foghorn Field too.
9. At Crook Hall Gardens, explore the maze or borrow a pair of binoculars from our wildlife hub to see if you can spot some birds.
10. Wander around the gardens and nuttery at Washington Old Hall to hear birdsong and spot bees, butterflies and other spring wildlife.
