Redbridge Jewish Care B ended the season in style at Silver Jubilee Park

FOOTBALL SAM Rank believes Redbridge Jewish Care can use their Invitational Trophy final success as a stepping stone for next season.

A second-half strike from Ben Chernoff helped them bring down the curtain on the season in style with a hardfought win over NLR Masters.

After a cagey first-half, Chernoff brought the match to life following an excellent team move. The ball was switched from the left-hand side from Joe Jordan to Alex Chernoff. The rightback surged forward before releasing his brother, Ben, who cut inside and fired a brilliant left-footed curler into the net from 25 yards.

Rank commented: “The boys have been brilliant since I took over here.

“They work for me and each other and their commitment, passion and attitude is just amazing. They deserved to win this cup final.

“It’s an honour for such a great club to win this competition, and for me to be involved. It would not have been possible without the back-room team of Richard Bronzite and Jon Jacobs.

“I really believe that winning this tournament together with our second half of the season form will be a great platform to win the Division One title next season.” N L R b o s s D a n L e v y expressed “disappointment” with the result but conceded the best team had won. “It was a tight game with few chances won by a great curling effort that deserved to be the winning goal,” he said. “Redbridge edged the game but there was very little in it. I can’t fault our guys for their effort but their younger legs gave them the edge.”
