FOOTBALL Andy Landesberg admits Maccabi London Lions Spartans “rode their luck” on their way to a shootout win over Oakwood A.

Brad Wine put Oakwood ahead but a strike from Max Kyte took the tie to extra-time. Carl Peters and David Woolman failed to convert from the spot for Oakwood, but Max Kyte, Ben Winters, Andy Glynne and Jonathan Kurrant held their nerve to send Lions through.

Oaks joint-manager Ric Blank said: “We were left scratching our heads, unable to understand what happened but with enough experience to know that football is a cruel game.”

Oli Henry was Blizzard Storm’s twogoal hero as they knocked Redbridge Jewish Care B off top spot in MGBSFL Division One.

Daniel Garfinkle’s 21st goal of the season proved little more than consolation as Simon Linden was left to reflect on a famous win.

He said: “There’s nothing better than beating Redbridge - a fantastic result for us that proves we can beat anyone in this league on our day.”

Norstar London Raiders B capitalised by reclaiming top spot, with a double from Josh Green steering them past promotion rivals Camden Park.

Adam Hersh (2), Simon Moses and Adam Waters helped Los Blancos extend their unbeaten run to eight matches as they overcame Athletic Bilbaum 4-2. Jacob Brunner (2) replied.

Mitch Young warned that FC Team B are “getting better by the game” as they stormed five points clear at the top of Division Two with a 4-0 demolition of nearest rivals AC Mill Hill. Goalkeeper David Grossman converted another penalty, with Lorian Madanes, Andy Sheena and Jon Breger adding the gloss. FCTeamC staged one of the comebacks of the day, with Freddie Marks, Dan Alfreds and James Milman on target in the 3-2 win over Oakwood that lifted them back into second place.

Adam Ellis was the hat-trick hero as Shacharit Donetsk surprised highflying KingCrown 3-2. Faithfold B also saw their promotion hopes dented in a 3-1 defeat at Hendon United Sports Club B. Gideon Barth (2) and Benni Sluckis were the marksmen.
