THE VOICE OF PROPERTY
AIR pollution is an on-going health concern, particularly for those who live or work in high traffic areas. But until now there has been no easy way for people to check air pollution levels around their home/ workplace/school. And it seems this information is necessary.
New research shows 25 per cent of UK addresses have air pollution levels above World Health Organisation (WHO) limits, the Central Office of Public Interest (COPI) is currently petitioning for the property industry to disclose the air pollution quality of a property in the same way as asbestos The data comes from the new national pollution address checker at https://
addresspollution.org which makes free air quality reports available for every UK address using data from Imperial College
London, which has estimated 99,000 early deaths every year in the UK and 15 per cent of all COVID-19 deaths worldwide can be attributed to dirty air. COPI is now pressing for legal action to make disclosure of air pollution ratings mandatory by estate agents, property websites, surveyors and conveyancers.
ONCE an imposing hotel, the two B-listed terraced townhouses long known as The White House in the West End of Glasgow have been converted into six, luxury apartments and two mews properties, newly launched to the market this week by boutique estate agency Vanilla Square.
Occupying part of a south-facing classical Victorian terraced sweep on Cleveden Crescent, a prime residential area overlooking a one-acre communal garden, the blonde sandstone properties were designed in 1876 by renowned architect John Burnett Senior.
The new two and three-bedroomed apartments and mews retain all the character, grace and proportions of a bygone era, combined with an exacting specification and high-end finish. A twobedroomed ground floor show apartment furnished by Luxe Casa Interiors, is open for viewing by appointment.
Prices range from £450,000 for a twobedroomed apartment rising to £750,000 for a three-bed apartment, while the two, three-bedroomed mews properties are priced at £595,000.
