Hall in a New York state of mind with loan deal

STOPPER JOINS MILLERS

- By OSCAR HALEY

MIDDLESBROUGH defender Grant Hall admits he wants to hit the ground running at the New York Stadium following his loan move to Rotherham United.

The 30-year-old has joined the Millers on a season-long loan in an effort to gain more game time.

While he started the season as a regular fixture in Boro’s defence, he did not feature once under Chris Wilder, who arrived on Teesside in November of last year.

One of the reasons why Hall chose Rotherham was the influence of manager Paul Warne, who had been trying to recruit the defender for a number of weeks.

Hall is excited to have the opportunity to help out newly-promoted Rotherham as he looks to put his frustrating season last term behind him.

He said: “I am delighted to sign. It has been good to get the deal done so I can hopefully hit the ground running and get in to meet the lads and train before the start of the season.

“I think that was partly the reason why I wanted to come as well because Rotherham manager Paul

Warne wanted me here and he wants me to play football.

“That is the main thing for me.”

He added: “It was a frustrating season last season.

“I did not play much football, so that is what I am looking to do – come here and hopefully stake my place in the team, stay in and get game time.

“I am hungry to play. It was very frustrating for me last season.

“For me, it is about getting as many games as possible here and hopefully I can contribute to the team.”
