SECOND CHANCE IS JUST FINE FOR JONSON

- By Charlie Peat

JONSON Clarke-Harris claims he has unfinished business at Coventry after joining from Rotherham on loan.

The 23-year-old striker is an academy graduate of the Sky Blues and made his debut for the club at just 16 years and 21 days.

Clarke-Harris was released on a free transfer by Peterborough in 2012 before joining Rotherham in 2014. But, having returned to the Ricoh Arena until the end of the season, he is delighted to be donning the Sky Blue again.

He said: “It’s a proper good feeling. I’ve had to take the long route round. I should have been here in the first place.

“I’m buzzing to get promotion and see what happens.

“It was frustrating to be released as a teen. Everything happens for a reason, and that happened for a reason.

“Hopefully, I can show everybody it was a bad decision to release me.”

Clarke-Harris, who has previously scored twice against Coventry for Doncaster and Oldham, is hoping to fire Mark Robins’ side out of League Two.

He said: “I’ve scored twice against Coventry City. I gave the fans a bit of stick and they gave me a bit back.

“This time, I want to score for Coventry. I’m technically better than I was. I’ve played the game a lot more.

“I’ve learned the Championship and League One, and now I’m going to learn League Two.

“There are fewer mistakes the higher up you go. I’ve been in training here and the standard is unbelievable. There’s no way those players should be in League Two.

“I hope to be a part of this group and hopefully add something to the group.

“You have to be patient. I’m ready for when I’m needed. Promotion is the only thing that’s going to be deposited.”
