Actor and Bros drummer Luke Goss shares his arty LA weekend

The actor and Bros drummer, 51, spends his day painting, jamming and Facetiming his twin brother Matt

8.30am I get up any time between 8.30 and 10am. I became an artist so I wouldn’t need to set an alarm! I don’t wear a watch, either. I very lovingly make a pot of coffee, and my big treat is double cream – and then I have a litre of lemon water. I don’t really eat breakfast. I don’t look at work emails. In lockdown I’ve been a lot more productive than I have ever been in my whole life. 10.30am I’m painting 12 to 18 hours a day [in his LA home]. I’ve got a dining area that I’ve turned into a cool lounge, which is where I paint – it’s just me and lots of frankincense burning. I’m a complete hippie at heart.

2pm For lunch I’ll have a sprouted-grain bagel with egg and coriander – I’m vegetarian. 3pm When I’m not painting I make music. I’ve written and recorded four songs so far [in lockdown]. My studio is a place to hang out and jam – I just bought this 7ft beanbag for my buddies. 5pm I use Facetime multiple times every day. Shirley [Luke’s wife, a backing singer] is in London right now – and I always stay in touch with Matt [Luke’s twin brother and Bros singer, who lives in Las Vegas] no matter where I am in the world. He’s a massive part of my day. I never thought that our documentary would do so well [After The Screaming Stops, which aired in 2018]. I think people were just hungry for some truth and candour. Watching it was extremely uncomfortable, but that was outweighed by the friendship and bridge-building that happened between Matt and me. We had the reunion and have stayed together, so there will be more music. We were going to record and film the new album this year in Jamaica, but obviously the pandemic changed that. 7pm I love cooking – it will just be spaghetti with Parmesan, chopped chives and some truffle oil. I’m not really an alcohol person, but once a week I like a full-bodied chardonnay. It’s the simple life. I’ve got an al fresco dining spot, with a wooden deck overlooking the mountains. 9pm Getting cleaned up is kind of a treat. I have a bath with some lavender oil and Epsom salts and just sit. 11pm I do a prayer or two and then I meditate, anything from 20 minutes to an hour.

Luke’s latest film Paydirt is available on DVD and digital platforms from Monday
