Care watchdog orders nursery staff to carry out major clean-up
A Perth nursery has been ordered by a care watchdog to carry out a complete clean of its premises.
A formal improvement notice has been issued to Little Einstein’s in Perth.
The Care Inspectorate has given staff until the end of June to “thoroughly clean the entire nursery”. Staff must also “put in place and implement a system for cleaning the nursery in order to ensure that it consistently remains in a clean and hygienic state”.
The formal notice also states that by August 30, the management of the Whitefriars Crescent establishment must demonstrate an improvement in the quality of care and support provided to children.
They have also been asked to ensure there are enough staff with the right skills and training to meet children’s needs.
A spokeswoman for the Care Inspectorate said: “This improvement notice clearly lays out the areas which require swift improvement, so children are protected and the care they receive is of a standard they have right to expect.
“We will work closely with this nursery to support improvement and check on progress.”
She said: “If we are not satisfied that swift and sustained progress is being made to address these issues, we will not hesitate to take further action. Every child in Scotland has the right to safe, good quality and compassionate care which meets their needs.”
Little Einsteins has six nurseries across Scotland, with other branches in Dundee, Arbroath, Glasgow and Kirkcaldy.
The company has declined to comment on the improvement order.
