Relegated Violet hit for six by champs Sauchie

-

Sauchie celebrated winning the Premier League title with a 6-0 demolition of relegated Dundee Violet at Glenesk Park.

Brian Morgan put the champions in front on 38 minutes and Josh Flood made it two, four minutes after the break.

Ryan Millar scored the third on 65 minutes and Anthony McTaggart hit the fourth five minutes later. Sixty seconds further forward and it was five as Ben Hutchison scored for Sauchie and Flood put the tin hat on it with the sixth goal four minutes from time.

Tayport also went goal crazy, demolishing visitors Downfield 6-0 at the Canniepairt.

Jamie Mackie put the hosts in front on 15 minutes and doubled the advantage on 27 minutes.

The start of the second half was delayed by rain but it didn’t seem to hinder the home side as Marc Ogg made it 3-0.

Grant Patterson made it 4-0 on 77 minutes and Ogg made it five with his second.

Right on full-time, Alan Tulleth was rewarded for his display, thumping the ball home from a Fraser Anderson cutback. The win sets John Ovenstone’s men up nicely for next Sunday’s GA Cup final against Broughty Athletic at Tannadice.

Glenrothes tried to do St Andrews United a favour but could only take a point from the visit to Whitburn, a result which leaves Saints needing Dundee Violet to beat Whitburn 10 -0 next weekend.

Chris Patrick put Whitburn in front on eight minutes but Glens levelled on 21 minutes when a Callum Kinnes effort appeared to slip through the keeper’s hands in a torrential downpour and go into the net off Euan Graham.

Whitburn went into the break in front after Dewi Taylor rifled the ball home on 35 minutes. Glenrothes controversially levelled through Conor Schiavone from the spot on 57 minutes and dominated the remainder of the game but Whitburn held out for a valuable point.
