Budding film-makers’ big chance
A competition for budding young Spielbergs has been launched in Perth and Kinross.
School-age film fanatics are being invited to take part in the Big County, Small Films contest.
Organisers are looking for films made by secondary and primary pupils – either as a school, a class or a group of friends.
Participants could see their work shown on the big screen at Perth’s Playhouse cinema later this year.
Judges want to see any kind of movie – action, horror, romance or even documentarystyle features.
The only restriction is that they must qualify for a U-certificate, as set out by the British Board of Film Classification. This means they have to be suitable for all ages, with no bad language or violence. All entries will be viewed by an independent panel and whittled down to a shortlist.
There will be four age group categories: P1-P4, P5-P7, S1-S3 and S4-S5.
A spokesman said: “If you go to school in Perth and Kinross, you can enter. If your school wants to make a film, that’s brilliant. If you and your friends want to make one for your school, that’s brilliant too.”
The closing date for submissions is Friday October 6 and the finalists will be shown on the big screen on Wednesday November 15.
