Hughes still sees room for improvement from Caley

-

Inverness Caley Thistle manager John Hughes has told his players they must learn from their 3-0 defeat by Celtic, starting against Dundee at the weekend.

Hughes was impressed by his side’s display against the league leaders but felt there was still plenty of room for improvement.

He said: “We were as good as Celtic in the first half and created the better chances.

“We frustrated them and some of our football was very good.

“The performance from the players was different class and many people were saying we were the best side they have seen at Celtic Park.

“I very much doubt I can get more out of them in terms of effort but they have to be better educated. They need to know what to do and what not to do in football, although that maybe comes with experience.

“It is our job to help and guide them.

“If they are making those mistakes on the training pitch then they will make them on a Saturday afternoon.”

Inverness dropped to seventh after Saturday’s defeat but they can return to the top six with a win against Dundee at Dens Park this weekend.

Hughes added: “The challenge for the players is to strive to be better and take the club forward.

“After a defeat, you can look at ways you can become better collectively.”
