Housing and tourism plans to be considered at council meeting
Councillors will have an opportunity this week to learn more about a major housing development proposed for Pitlochry.
The five hectare site is to the south of the town on land 300 metres south east of Middleton of Fonab Cottages, Foss Road.
A pre-application report will be considered by the development management committee on Wednesday.
It is an opportunity for councillors to raise issues which they would like to see addressed in the planning application.
The potential number of houses has not been revealed in the report which notes that the site is allocated for residential use within the local development plan.
The report says that the plan acknowledges that any developer of the site would have to address various issues including a flood risk assessment and ensuring there were enhanced walking and cycling routes to the town centre.
A public exhibition is scheduled to be held as part of a community consultation process and local councillors and Pitlochry and Moulin Community Council have been alerted to the proposal.
The results of the community consultation will be submitted as part of the application when it is made.
The same committee will consider an application for a tourist development on land west of Pinnerwood, Tulliebardine, Auchterarder.
The plan is to build three holiday lodges on a site bounded by mature trees. The small hamlet of Tulliebardine lies immediately north of the site on the other side of the public road.
Nine letters of objection have been received with concerns over road safety, traffic and access among the matters raised.
