Shamed doctor flouted internet ban while on bail

-

A DOCTOR who flouted an internet ban as he faced charges of paying a woman to have children perform sex acts for him over Skype has dodged further jail time.

Dr KieranTitheridge was last week jailed for three years and seven months for the offences, which saw him make four payments to an unidentified woman over a two-month period.

Titheridge, who worked at Ab e r d e en Roy a l Infirmary, had a choice of girls, ranging in age from three to 14, who would strip for him over Skype.

When police raided his home they found a range of child abuse images on his computer.

Yesterday it emerged that, following his initial appearance in court, Titheridge had been banned from accessing the internet for anything other than work purposes.

He w as ca u g h t flouting that bail condition when police carried out a spot check on him.

Depute fiscal Alex Piper told Dundee Sheriff Court: “Police carried out a spot check and when they turned on his phone the first screen to appear was Google Maps. The condition was not to access the internet from any device capable of such access.

“He admitted to having accessed the internet on his mobile phone for purposes other than work but denied it was for child images.”

Titheridge, 34, of South Street, Arbroath, pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching bail on September 4 last year.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond admonished Titheridge, who was not present in court, and said: “Given that he is already serving a three year, seven month sentence and given that on the face of it this was a technical breach, I won’t make any further order.”

Last week the High Court in Aberdeen heard how Titheridge was caught after detectives were told he had sent money through PayPal to an email account between October 14 2012 and December 26 2012. Police believed the email address was linked to the woman who arranged the abuse.

Off icers raided the doctor’s home in Aberdeen as well has his family home inArbroath. Laptops seized from both addresses contained 366 photographs and two videos of children.

Messages sent through Skype revealed Titheridge had engaged in several conversations with a foreign woman. He had asked her if she had naked young girls and requested their age.
