Optos sees rise in revenues

-

DUNFERMLINE-based eye scanning firm Optos saw revenues climb by almost a quarter in the nine months to the end of June.

The company said sales had reached $127.1m this financial year, with thirdquarter revenues of $40.9m contributing to a year-onyear increase of 24%.

The f igures exclude $17m of pre-orders for the firm’s new range of Daytona retina scanning instruments, manufacturing of which is “ramping up” ahead of a full sales launch in October.

A total of 40 devices have already been shipped, with orders for a further 360. The firm expects to deliver 280 of those this financial year.

Other equipment also continues to attract new customers, with more than 4,518 organisations now amongst Optos’clients.

Deinstall rates are low, and the firm says it is backed by a “growing body of independent clinical data.”

Chief executive Roy Davis said the firm was “pleased” with the market reception to Daytona, and its underpinning by his firm’s core product range.

“This quarter has largely been about the manufacturing scale-up of Daytona and ensuring we have sufficient capacity to efficiently fulfil orders,” he said.

“We remain on track to deliver against our Daytona order book and look forward to the full sales launch for the product planned for October.”
