Man charged after pug disappears
A man has been charged in connection with the disappearance of a Dundee dog.
Pixie the pug was last seen on the afternoon of Monday July 16 in Stobswell.
The police have confirmed that a 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the dog’s disappearance.
A statement from the force warned locals not to “compromise the legal process” on social media.
It said: “As some of you may know already, a 34-year-old man was arrested yesterday and charged in connection with the disappearance of Pixie the pug dog in Dundee on July 16. He is to be reported to the procurator fiscal.
“As someone has now been charged, for legal reasons we can’t provide any further information until such time as he appears in court.
“While we are aware that the identity of this person has been distributed on social media, again we have to ask that anyone commenting here does not mention any names so as not to compromise the legal process.
“Thanks for all the help we’ve received and to the witnesses who have come forward to speak with us. It’s very much appreciated.”
Sharon Robson, 47, who gave Pixie the pug to daughter Leigh and her three children as a gift, initially complained that when the dog first went missing, the family was told they would have to wait three days for police to investigate.
Speaking out again this week, she said: “I’m glad that police have finally charged somebody.
“It’s taken them some time but finally something is happening.
“We might never know what’s happened to Pixie but hopefully there will be some justice for her.
“We just want this dealt with as quickly as possible so that we can put it behind us and get some closure.”
Sharon said that her grandchildren, the eldest of whom is five, had been left upset by the disappearance.
She added: “They know something’s happened and it’s hard on them.”
