Dalgety Bay duo hope to win wedding in charity fundraiser

-

A Dalgety Bay couple are hoping to win a wedding of their dreams while raising money and awareness for a charity offering remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby.

Chris Shields and Lizzy Aitken, who have been together for 11 years and engaged for four, have entered a competition organised by Dunfermline photographer Jenn Knox which challenges couples to raise as much money as possible for two charities, ‘Remember my Baby’ and ‘The Brain Tumour Charity’.

The former has particular significance to the pair, as in 2009 they were delighted to hear they were expecting twin boys and in November that year Cohen and Caillen were born eight weeks premature.

However, little Caillen suffered from a brain haemorrhage and sadly passed away when he was only three days old.

Since then, Chris and Lizzy have organised various charity events to raise money for Kirkcaldy neonatal unit and other infant loss charities.

Six couples, including Chris and Lizzy, are taking part, and the couple who raise the most money will win a spectacular wedding at Balmule House in Dunfermline on October 5, plus photography, wedding cars and rings, all worth £15,000.

Lizzy said: “Remember My Baby wasn’t around when Caillen passed, and we feel we could have benefited from the amazing support RMB provide. We want to raise the money so it will go to good use to provide bereaved parents with treasured photographs and memories of their little angels.”

The competition ends on Wednesday. Anyone wishing to donate can go to justgiving.com and search ‘Chris and Lizzy Tie the Knot’.
