‘Attempted murder’ at farm

-

A man has been shot from behind while working at a farm in what police are treating as an attempted murder.

The attack happened in Bridge of Weir, Renfrewshire, on Tuesday at about 2.30pm.

The 41-year-old victim had been working on a car at Crosslee Farm when he was shot.

He was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley and is said to be in a stable condition.

Three or four men were seen to flee the scene in a green car following the incident, making off towards the B789 Barochan road.

Detective Chief Inspector Fil Capaldi said: “The motive for this attack is not clear.

“However, we do believe the victim was the intended target. While the farm is in a rural location, there were several people visiting for various reasons throughout the morning and afternoon.

“I am appealing to anyone who was there and who may have seen the car or has any information that could assist our inquiries to get in touch.”

Officers will be checking CCTV footage in the surrounding areas for additional information on the car and occupants.

Anyone with any information has been urged asked to contact police in Paisley, quoting incident number 1793 of October 31 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
