Gowfers and Port renew their rivalry

-

The second and last round of midweek fixtures has thrown up some intriguing battles, writes our junior football correspondent.

In the Super League, Carnoustie hosting Tayport is a fixture full of historic rivalry.

The Gowfers go into this clash with greater confidence being one of six clubs on six points topping the table, while Port have just one point to their name so far.

Promoted pair St Andrews and Broughty meet at Barnetts Park, both having suffered their first defeats on Saturday.

Saints were edged out by Bo’ness and the Fed lost 2-1 at Broxburn.

Two of Fife’s great rivals, Hill of Beath and Kelty Hearts, meet at Keirs Park in what should be another fiercely contested clash.

In the Premier League, unbeaten Lochee United meet Montrose Roselea at Thomson Park.

The Bluebells are upbeat after their 6-2 win at Kennoway on Saturday, while their Angus visitors suffered their first defeat of the season at Arniston.

Both Violet and Forfar West End lost at home at the weekend and will be desperate to return to winning ways at Glenesk.

Moorside Park houses a top-of-the-table clash between Dundonald Bluebell and Jeanfield Swifts.

Both have 100% records after three games, so something has to give this evening.

Last season’s two promoted clubs, Kennoway Star Hearts and Thornton Hibs, meet at Traeton Park with both having won one game out of three.

Oakley bagged their first win against Edinburgh United, but will find it tougher away to relegated Armadale Thistle.
