Be bold and follow Prediction

- By The Ferret

Bold Prediction has been knocking on the door on his last couple of runs but can finally strike gold in the Luke Currie Memorial Handicap at Ayr.

Elaine Burke’s charge was a winner at Wolverhamton back in March but has had to settle for a string of places interspersed with also-rans of late.

However, he has made the frame on his last two starts, finishing second at Newcastle in June before claiming third at Pontefract.

Bold Prediction was beaten just two lengths on that occasion after having every chance while he went down by just a neck on his previous effort on slightly easier ground.

He is a thoroughly game performer which has seen him rise to a mark of 80, his highest for a while but not quite on a par with the 82 rating he boasted last year.

Silkelly is a similarly consistent individual and her connections’ patience should pay off in the Infinity Ecomax Tyres Handicap at Beverley.

A winner on her seasonal bow at Musselburgh in May, Silkelly has not quite managed to match those heights in two starts since, proving a particularly disappointing favourite on her subsequent start when only fifth at Carlisle.

She unseated her rider on the way to the start that day and appeared to be struggling under a higher mark, although she ran a much better race off the same rating when only beaten half a length into third at Catterick.

She was just outrun in the finish that day, prompting David O’Meara to try her over a mile for the first time here.
