Fine food and drink to the fore at show

- KATY GORDON

Keen livestock breeders tend to focus on the judging rings at agricultural shows, but no summer event is complete without food, drink and trade stands.

And the Scottish Agricultural Show is no different. The Courier and The Press and Journal have partnered with the Royal Highland Show and sponsors EQ Accountants to present Scotland’s first-ever online show over the weekend of July 3-4.

Visitors to the dedicated website are invited to visit the food and drink tents where demonstrations will showcase the best produce Scotland has to offer – and describe how best to enjoy it.

The beer tent, sponsored by 71 Brewing, will highlight top beers, and in the drinks tent, sponsored by Bon Accord, visitors can find out more about different Scottish producers – from whisky to gin to soft drinks to wine and much more.

The food tent, sponsored by Red Poppy, is not to be missed, and businesses will also show off their wares in the trade stands section, sponsored by Netherton Tractors, while Stewart’s Resort are sponsors of the leisure area.

There’s still time to enter the baking competition. Just create a baked item using a Mackays product of your choice, upload a photo and tell us a bit about it.

There is a vintage farm machinery competition, sponsored by Balgownie, and the chance for four-legged friends to shine in the dog photo competition sponsored by Angus Timber Cabins.

For the vintage farm machinery competition all that’s required is a photo of your machine looking its best.

Meanwhile entries for livestock close on Friday.
