Bollan urges Blue Brazil to regain place in top four

-

Cowdenbeath want to defeat visitors Albion Rovers and secure a return to a play-off place after dropping out of the top four for the first time this season.

A 1-1 draw with Edinburgh City on Saturday saw the Blue Brazil slip to fifth, with Central Park boss Gary Bollan saying: “I was pleased with our performance but disappointed that we did not pick up three points.

“We scored a really good goal, however the one we lost was a bit unfortunate as it started off as a cross and the wind turned it into a shot.

“Queen’s Park and Elgin City have now moved above us in the promotion chase, but this game gives us a chance to move back up the way.

“It will be tough as I have never known an easy game against Albion Rovers in my time as a manager.

“They have their own targets to hit and will be working hard to achieve that.”

Striker Kris Renton ended a more than sixmonth wait for a goal at the weekend and will lead the Blue Brazil’s attack against the Rovers, with Bollan saying: “Kris is now back to full fitness after missing out for a few weeks after fracturing a cheekbone.

“The goal will have been good for his confidence but not only did he find the net against Edinburgh City, he played in the positive manner we know that he can.

“Hopefully he will continue like that in this game.”

Chris Hamilton sits out the second game of his two-match ban, however Michael Herd is added after overcoming the illness that prevented him making a comeback from injury at the weekend.

The Coatbridge side head east after losing 2-1 to Elgin City in a game where all the goals came in the first six minutes, with Cliftonhill manager Kevin Harper saying: “We cannot start as bad defensively again.

“We gave away two goals and when you do that it is very hard to win games.

“If we defend better then we have the players that can score and get us a win at Cowdenbeath.”
