College to join in celebrations
Dundee and Angus College, in partnership with Women’s Aid Angus, will be joining in the Year of Young People celebrations next week at its Keptie Road campus in Arbroath.
The Year of Young People 2018 aims to inspire Scotland through its young people, celebrating their achievements, valuing their contribution to communities, and creating new opportunities for them .
A spokesperson for Angus Women’s Aid said: “The Year of the Young People is so important and brings all the issues that young people face to the forefront.
“Securing funding from Youthlink Scotland to put on this event allows us to give the young people we work with such a boost and brings everyone together for a day run by and for young people.”
More than 200 secondary pupils from schools across Angus, plus students from Dundee and Angus College, will get the chance to find out about the many services available to young people in the area.
Organisations including LGBT Youth Scotland, Tayside Council on Alcohol, NHS and Women’s Aid will showcase their work and offer advice.
College learner engagement officer Tatiana Zorina said: “The Year of Young People puts young people at the heart of everything and this is exactly what we try to do at the college.”
The event will run on Thursday at noon.
