Montrose Horticultu­ral Society held its annual flower show in St Mary’s and St Peter’s Church, Mid Links.

The trophies were presented by honorary president Pat Cummins of Nether Dysart. Class winners were as follows: Most points in horticultu­ral classes – Ed Mitchell, best exhibit – 1 Christine Duncan, 2 E Mitchell; pot plant and most points in fuchsia section – Rab Milne, class 1 – George Stewart; Class 53, class 50 collection of vegetables, best onion sets, class 86 collection of potatoes – E Mitchell; class 51 and class 56 three blanched leeks – Davy Duke, best tomatoes in show – John Henderson, collection of onions class 66 – R Milne.

Most points in fruit section and best in fruit – John Sutcliffe, three vases of dahlias class 125 and class 71 collection of shallots – Derek Ritchie.

Three vases of hardy herbaceous perennials class 161 – Doreen Murison, one vase sweet peas mixed class 158 – Brian Grant, one vase floribunda roses class 174 – R Milne, container of cut flowers class 176 – Barry Watson, collection of roses class 145 – Archie Ferguson.

Angus floral art championsh­ip and best exhibit in floral art – Diane Turberfiel­d, one vase mixed garden flowers class 20 and most points in children’s section – Callum Wilson, second highest points in children’s section – Ava Taylor.

Most points in knitting section and miscellane­ous classes – Doris Black, baking classes – D Fotheringh­am and Irene Gilbert, preserve classes – Ted Smith, industrial section – D Fotheringh­am, industrial section and cross stitch – Christine Duncan, pot plant section – George Stewart, kitchen garden section – John Sutcliffe.
