Dark Blues look to right two wrongs

Midfielder wants to repay fans after second Dens Park setback

- NEIL ROBERTSON

Mark O’Hara admits the Dundee players are hoping that two wrongs will be followed by a right when they face Dundee United in the Betfred Cup on Wednesday night.

The Dark Blues suffered a desperately disappointing opening day Premiership defeat at Dens on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Ross County.

That was the second setback at home within the space of six days for Neil McCann’s men coming hot on the heels of the loss on penalties to the Tangerines in the Betfred Cup group stages last Sunday.

Now, O’Hara and his team-mates are determined there will be some home comfort for the club’s supporters when Ray McKinnon’s side return to Dens in two days.

He said: “We definitely owe the fans one as we have let everyone down.”

“It is not a great start at all and we will try to put it right on Wednesday night,” O’Hara said.

“It is an ideal opportunity to put this (Ross County defeat) behind us.

“Hopefully if we get a win against United, we can forget about this and move on as quickly as possible.

“It is an ideal game to put it right for ourselves and the fans,” added the Dark Blues midfielder. “There is still a feeling of disappointment from the last game against them.

“Obviously a defeat against your local rivals isn’t great so it is two wrongs we need to put right on Wednesday night,” he said.

Dundee striker Sofien Moussa and young defender Kerr Waddell are major doubts for Wednesday’s game with knee and calf injuries respectively.

Both had to come off against Ross County.

“It is an ideal game to put it right for ourselves and the fans. MARK O’HARA
